I don’t know about you, but I love a gift guide. I always find fun things I wouldn’t normally. I’m also a huge sucker for Valentines. Here are some fun goodies for your 2017 VDay. If you’re single, don’t worry. It’s the perfect excuse to treat yo’ self!
It’s no secret that I love how to style tips, especially when it comes to consoles. Most of the items shown are on discount (like that Target mirror currently on sale!). The key to great style is layering. This mash up has a fun mix of color and texture. Shop the look here!
Searching for nursery inspiration this weekend led to the discovery of custom home builder, Banks Development Co. Specializing in the Washington DC area, Banks Co has an amazing portfolio. Take a look:
Ah, dreamy. Just some inspiration for your Monday!
So it’s the new year, and you want a new look (but maybe you don’t have the budget!). Here are a few cost effective ways to change up your interior for 2017:
Paint is the easiest way to make a big impact. If you’re willing to put in some sweat equity, you can completely change a room for $50 or less. If you’re not sure which direction to go, head straight to the back of the paint deck. Benjamin Moore’s Historical Collection are all beautiful, safe choices. If you want to go gray and aren’t sure, HC-172 Revere Pewter is stunning. In general, light colors make a room look larger, and darker will give a more cozy feel.
I’ve done this several times with our formal living room. If you’re tired of the look, completely change your pillows. There is quite a bit on sale right now thanks to after holiday deals. These are currently an extra 40% off the sale price. I recommend these to clients ALL THE TIME.
I’m a big fan of strategic styling and I tend to freshen up our coffee tables quite a bit. Add a new tray and some fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s. Move some candles around or add a fresh stack of books. Even the smallest changes can help keep it fresh.
If you have the time and motivation, throw up some paint and do a Target run. Little changes can go a long way!
Holy smokes… Christmas is almost here. This year has been insane for me and I can’t believe it’s almost over. It’s been a blur to say the least. With that, December has flown too and if you’re anything like me you might be scrambling on some last minute gifts. Today I have 10+ items all under $20! You can’t beat that (and this is where I get tempted to grab one for myself). Happy shopping!
If you need some inspiration today, you don’t want to miss the portfolio of Marie Flanigan Interiors. Marie is a Texas based interior designer (one of my people!) and was a Style Spotter at this year’s Highpoint Market. I had the pleasure of hearing her speak at the Style Spotter’s breakfast and was instantly impressed. She notes on her website that they like to bring beauty to their clients not only through the interiors, but through the experience with their firm. So lovely. Take a look:
You cannot beat talent and integrity! Give their firm a look here.
I cannot believe Christmas is nearly here. With family coming, I’m already plotting our table setting for Christmas dinner. The key to any great table is lots of lighting. What better way to grab a glow with plenty of candles. The metallic pearl from Creative Candles was the perfect addition to my unique centerpiece. Top it off with a punch of color and layered dishes and you are ready for dinner.
What’s your favorite way to prep a holiday table? Make sure to check out Creative Candles.
Poncho? Cape? Scarf? Whatever it is, it’s the solution to my new problem (as least for now). In case you missed our little announcement, I’m 14 weeks pregnant and currently in a very awkward stage. My belly is sticking out in a not so explainable way. I’m not big enough for maternity pants but not above leaving a party early to unzip my jeans in the car. Thankfully, everyone seems to have cute ponchos right now that make me feel stylish enough for winter while concealing my little bump.
Here are a few of my current favorites. This is the one I’m rocking today and it was only $39! The Nordstrom sales associate bought one for herself when I checked out!
Is anyone else having a heart attack that the holidays are nearly upon us? I am not ready and neither is my house… Last year, I was so busy my Christmas shopping took an unusual last minute turn. I’m hoping to get a jump start on things next week so I’m not fighting the crowds (and higher prices) come late December. I’m also really in need of some different ideas. Today I’ve pulled a more fun and unique gift guide from Uncommon Goods. If you’re not familiar with them, they have a wide range of unique (and often handmade) gifts. They are also big proponents of sustainability (from the way they manufacture products to the way they treat their employees), so it’s easliy a company I can stand behing.
I’m especially in love with the smart phone vase. How freaking cute would that be on a nightstand? It even comes in two colors that you can see here. I also selfishly need that grilled cheese and tomato soup plate for myself…and that tribal make up bag. What are your favorite type of gifts to buy? You can find more unique things here as well as gifts for men here and women here! Happy shopping.
