Hello and happy Friday! Hope it’s been a wonderful week. It’s supposed to snow tomorrow and let me tell you, I love some weekend snow. It’s the best excuse to stay in and play with Taylor. She is getting so big and busy (and will be nine months old next week! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?) Here are some fun links for your Friday:
If you haven’t read this article yet, you should. It’s wheels off
I don’t know about you, but chilly temps have me dreaming of a vacation. That or maybe just general lack of sleep with a baby. Either way, Nest in Tulum, Mexico looks like a dream. How perfect is this boutique hotel?
This post is an oldie but a goody! With the holidays approaching, I’m trying to get our house ready. Here’s a few tips on how to have your home ready for holiday guests:
One thing I like to focus on is giving our guests (whether close friends or mere acquaintances) a hotel like experience. This cuts down on awkward moments of your husband’s college friend asking you for shampoo in the hallway at 6am. I always start with a hospitality basket in the room with a few Colorado items as well as bottled water and chapstick. My Texas friends are never prepared for the altitude and lack of humidity, so it’s always nice to have this ready to go. Voss is my favorite bottled water to get. You can pick it up at Whole Foods for the same price as most bottled water, but people are always very impressed by it.
I also have a nicely framed printable with our WIFI password on the nightstand (you can find the one I have shown here), as well as a small ironing board and high quality steam iron ready to go in the closet. To top it all off, I stock our medicine cabinet in the guest bath with travel size toiletry items. If you want to be a real all star, add robes and slippers to your closet, but don’t take it too far or they may never leave.
I hope you’re more inspired to pull out all the stops for future company!
The other day, I went into a full on panic, thinking I had forgotten my Dad’s birthday. My dad is the best and if anyone deserves a special day, it’s him. I sat there freaking out until it occurred to me, it’s OCTOBER 19th (his birthday is in November). Welcome to motherhood, y’all. One big mishap after another! Thankfully, I have a month to plan the perfect present, but where do you go for the guy who has everything? Enter Uncommon Goods. If you’re not familiar with them, they have a wide range of unique (and often handmade) gifts (Translation: the perfect stocking stuffers). They are also big proponents of sustainability (from the way they manufacture products to the way they treat their employees), so it’s easily a company I can stand behind.
My dad is a relatively new retiree, and his free time has revealed some fantastic gifts. For starters, he really enjoys cooking and has started to try new gadgets and recipes. This has increased everyone’s quality of life (especially on our yearly trip to their beach house). Unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ve probably seen a demonstration video for this grill tool that easily melts cheese in a few minutes. Once melted, it slides easily onto your brat, veggies or burger. Genius. They also have fantastic gifts for kids. I think Taylor really needs one of their onesies! Head to UncommonGoods website for a great selection of gifts, especially for Christmas. How is it already time for that?!
Good morning and happy Friday! Weekends take on a whole other level of excitement now as it means I get nearly three solid days with Taylor. She is close to five months now (which is insane) and is the happiest little baby you’ve ever met. She gets very hangry (just like her mom), but otherwise is nearly all smiles. I don’t think we could ask for a more perfect little girl. Here are some links for your Friday:
Can you handle Taylor’s jacket? You can find it on sale here
Old Navy has a matching sweatshirt here and I’m dying to get it…
My husband put my straighter on one of these and it’s kind of genius
Hello! I’m coming to you today with my current obsessions. I met with a fellow blogger friend last week and she mentioned these were one of her favorite posts. I have to agree, I love finding out about new things from friends. Here’s what I’m currently obsessing over:
MEGHAN & HARRY
We are currently reading The Royal We in bookclub and I feel like it’s playing out right before our eyes (and if you need a good book to read, pick that one up! SO good). I have always been intrigued by the royals, and Meghan Markle is stunning.
COLD BREW COFFEE
I know…give it up, right? I cannot stop mentioning cold brew coffee but it is consistently a highlight of my day. KitchenAid has a new brewer/dispenser that you can leave in your fridge and it is going on the top of my Christmas list. Then there’s the new tumblers from S’well. I need it all!
ROUND MIRRORS, LEOPARD PILLOWS & QUIRKY PORTRAITS
For home decor, I cannot stop with these three. I love a round mirror (especially a giant one). Leopard pillows are the new neutral, and this hide version from Williams Sonoma is perfect for my couch. Lastly, I love thought provoking art. This portrait from OKL is fantastic.
I am SO ready for the seasons to change. We are in that awkward space in Denver where one day is 57 and the next is 85, but we are so close to fall. As one of my friends recently stated, “My body type really lends itself well to layers” and nothing could be more true for me. This sweater and these green Converse need to be in my closet ASAP (and both are conveniently on sale).
My face has taken on a whole new exhausted look with the baby and I am in need of some product, people. My coworker recently started using a Derma Roller and I have been dying to try one. It opens up your skin to more readily receive any serums you apply and generate new cell growth. Why have I not already ordered this?!
If you follow me on social media, I’m sure this is obvious, but I am obsessed with our sweet child. She is precious and funny and spends 90% of her day smiling. I ordered a bunch of sale Old Navy clothes for her and holy smokes is it precious. We are beyond thankful for our little lady.
I have less than two weeks maternity left and wow, has it gone fast. Miss Taylor is a little over 10 weeks (and 10 pounds!) and smiles all the time. We have settled into a great rhythm and could not be more thankful for such a happy little lady. We’re excited for the weekend because it’s always nice to have our whole little family at home. For now, here’s some links for your Friday:
After three and a half years of prayer and struggle, we are parents to the most precious bean I could have ever imagined. Per usual, God’s timing is always perfect. I assumed the entire pregnancy that she would look like Tim, so when the nurse brought her around, I was shocked. I’m pretty sure I gasped. Everyone seems to think she looks like me. Either way, I love her so much and still seem to be in a bit of shock that she’s ours. Here’s a few things I’ve discovered post pregnancy:
* I cannot stomach coffee the way I used to… and now seem to be a tea drinker
* My voice is significantly lower (which is probably a good thing ha)
* I thought I “wasn’t sleeping” at all during my third trimester. HA… think again
* I didn’t know I could love or worry about anything so much
* Changing diapers is not bad at all. I’m so eager to help her
* I’m pretty sure Taylor will have a great sense of humor as she has already mastered side eye at the ripe age of three weeks
* Being someone’s main food source is NO JOKE
* Parenthood emphasizes the need for complete dependency on God (I am certainly not in control)
We are so thankful for you little lady and pray daily that we are good parents. You were worth every day of waiting.
Mother’s Day is on Sunday and if you have a pregnant brain like me, you may be running around last minute. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite things that could double as a great gift! I have really been eyeing these Kate Spade mules (which also come in a delicious camel color). I have one of these Tory Burch candles and besides being a beautiful accessory, they smell like heaven. I know this is an old suggestion, but if you don’t have a Longchamp Tote by now, you need to snag one. It’s the perfect travel bag and folds up so nicely.
What are you doing on Sunday? Don’t forget to treat ‘yo Momma!
I have been SO quiet on the blog… apologies! I am exhausted. Still working full time (not to mention my side clients), my creativity is usually spent by the time I get home. I went to a shower a few weekends ago and some ladies were talking about my blog. I feel so honored when anyone tells me they’re a reader. Sometimes it feels like you’re talking to yourself! I am eight months pregnant now and very much looking the part. The above is from Easter Sunday. We are in full nesting mode as our little lady will be here in less than four weeks. Bitty scratched her cornea and has been in a cone for quite some time…
Needless to say, she has not been happy about it. She got a great report on Monday, but has still been scratching so we are putting the cone on when needed. Hopefully little Miss will be in the all clear next week. We are going to the groomer today (after a three week delay by our vet) and I am guessing she will have much more pep in her step afterwards. Like any lady, she is grumpy when she doesn’t look her best.
She is very aware something is going on with me and follows me around the minute I get home. I hope she loves the baby, but someone barks at the TV currently if a baby is crying… haha. This old Shih Tzu is in for it! I am having the nursery photographed this afternoon, so stay tuned for a post this weekend. I can’t wait to share. I am in love with the space.
