Continuing my “how to accessorize” series today with neutral sofas. There is nothing wrong with going neutral on your high cost upholstery staples. Buying great basics allows you to have investment pieces while celebrating trends with lower end accessories.
I’m currently obsessing over Moroccan wedding blankets. My boss just went to Morocco and got one for $100. WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THIS?! If I were accessorizing my cream sofa, I would start here, draping it over the center of the back. From there I’m pulling in my favorite color: navy. Add some relatively solid pillows with one more patterned accent.
Neutral sofas also allow for bold wall color. Sherwin Williams Naval is THE most perfect navy wall color. I have used it for ten years. Painting walls (in my opinion) goes hand and hand with lower end accessories. It’s the easiest and cheapest way to warm up a room. Do it yourself and you can have a completely new room for less than $50. Don’t be afraid to paint yourself. If I can do it, anyone can.
Finally, I would place an African Juju hat on the wall. This will look striking on top of your navy wall and also tie into the texture of your Moroccan wedding blanket.
What do you think? Take it or leave it?
