One of my favorite bloggers is Life of Bon.
Her blog is hilarious. I don’t even remember how I came across it, but it has turned into a daily read. You can check it out here.
When she announced she was pregnant (with a girl!), I decided to reach out and ask if she would be interested in a nursery design.
Thankfully, she obliged.
I asked her a few questions (colors, theme, overall thoughts). She wanted soft colors with yellow and pink accents, white furnishings, and a scheme that could easily be converted for future babies.
A few back and forth emails lead to the winner, draft #3:
Most of the pieces are from Walmart, Target and IKEA believe it or not! Goes to show you don’t have to break the bank to have great design.
Wondering how we got there? (and how a long distance design consult works?)
Based on the feedback, I took a stab and sent her this:
Bonnie liked the crib and rocker, but thought the colors were a bit dark and not in the softer direction she was hoping for. She mentioned possibly going with a striped accent. From there I sent draft 2:
Draft 2 was more inline with what she had envisioned, but Bonnie was still hoping for more pink accents. I took a risk by adding the poodles (Bonnie has a great sense of humor and I think they’re so fun). She was hoping for something more baby. New art and a dash of pink:
We started talking on Friday and came to the final design by Monday. Not bad, right?
Hopefully this can serve as a little inspiration.
If you’re not reading her blog, you should. This post had me laughing at my desk. Add it to your bookmarks.
Congratulations lady and thanks for participating!
